Forex Rebate Program: How It Works, Who Pays, When You Get Paid And What To Check

Every broker and referral partner runs its own forex rebate program, yet most pages say little more than "up to X USD back per lot". They rarely explain where the money comes from, when it arrives, or what conditions apply. Without that, it is hard to judge whether a program is trustworthy.
In this article, Backcom.io walks through four things:
- The mechanics of a rebate program, from a closed trade to cash received.
- Who pays the rebate and why the amount has a ceiling.
- When rebates are paid, based on each broker's payout cycle and processing window.
- Forex rebate program requirements and the checks to run before you link an account.
What Is A Forex Rebate Program? Three Parties And One Cash Flow

A forex rebate program is an arrangement in which an introducing broker (IB) shares part of the commission a broker pays it with the trader, calculated on lots closed. You still trade on the broker's platform as usual. The rebate is an extra amount paid back after trades close.
Every program involves three parties:
- The broker: Executes orders, holds client funds, sets spreads, commissions and leverage, and pays a commission to the partner that brought the client.
- The introducing partner (IB or affiliate): Does not take orders or hold your money. It receives a commission from the broker and passes some or all of it on.
- The trader: Opens an account linked to the partner's code, trades, and receives a rebate based on closed volume.
Under version 2.0 of its risk disclaimer, effective 29 October 2026, the rebate provider on this site is an independent introducing partner of brokers, not a broker itself. The full text is on the risk disclaimer page, and what an IB is in forex covers the partner's role in more depth.
Regulators draw the same line. According to the CFTC, an IB is compensated for soliciting or accepting orders but does not accept margin or client assets. See the primary source: CFTC page on intermediaries.
How Forex Rebate Programs Work: 5 Steps From Closed Trade To Cash Paid

How forex rebate programs work follows a fixed chain, even though every broker's interface looks different. A rebate only arises after a trade closes, and it is based on volume, not on profit or loss.
The flow can be summarised like this:
Account linked to a partner code → Trader closes a trade → Broker records lots and IB commission → Partner reconciles → Rebate credited
Step by step:
Step 1: Link the account to a partner
The trading account must sit under the partner's IB code, either from sign-up or by transferring partners where the broker allows it. An account opened directly with the broker, with no code, earns no rebate.
Step 2: Trade as usual
Spreads and commissions are still set by the broker for the account type you use.
Step 3: The trade closes and volume is recorded
Open positions do not generate commission. Once a trade closes, the broker calculates the lots and the matching IB commission for the partner.
Step 4: The partner reconciles and calculates the rebate
The partner receives the commission and converts it into a rebate per trader, using the published rate for your product and account type.
Step 5: The rebate is credited
On the broker pages read on 7 November 2026, Exness, Vantage and HFM pay the rebate in USD as cash, not as trading credit.
The calculation is a single line:
Rebate = Lots Closed × Rebate Per Lot
Because the basis is closed volume, winning and losing trades both count. Treat a rebate as a cost reducer, not a source of profit. What is a forex rebate has more worked examples.
Who Pays The Rebate? Source Of Funds And The Ceiling

Who pays the rebate decides how trustworthy a program is. The honest answer is the broker, through IB commission. It is not the partner's own money, and it is not an extra charge taken from your account.
You can test the source with three steps of logic:
- The broker earns spread and commission on every lot traded.
- A share of that revenue goes to the partner that referred the client, known as IB commission.
- The partner returns some or all of that commission to the trader.
Two consequences follow. First, a rebate cannot exceed the commission the broker pays the partner, so an unusually high promise with no explanation of its source deserves caution. Second, rebates differ between account types because the fees charged on each type differ.
The phrase "100% rebate" is often misread. It means 100% of the IB commission, not 100% of trading fees. If a broker charges 10 USD in fees per lot and pays the partner 3 USD, the most that can return to the trader is 3 USD. How to read a rebate claim explains how to read that number.
The risk disclaimer also makes two points. The partner has a financial interest when traders use its link, and a broker may change or end its commission program.
When Are Rebates Paid? Payout Cycle And Processing Time By Broker
When rebates are paid depends on each broker's cycle, because a partner can only reconcile once the broker has finalised commission. Of the four brokers below, three pay daily and IC Markets pays monthly, so check the cycle before you expect cash.
| Broker | Payout cycle | Processing window on the page | How it is received |
|---|---|---|---|
| Exness | Daily | 04:00–06:00 UTC | USD |
| Vantage | Daily | 02:00–04:00 UTC | USD, as cash |
| HFM | Daily | Morning | USD, not credit |
| IC Markets | Monthly (start of month) | Not stated on the page | In a trader wallet on the partner app |
Reference: broker pages on this site as at 7 November 2026. Cycles and processing windows can change, so check again before you link an account.
The table shows two things. "Daily" does not mean instant, since each broker has its own processing window. A monthly cycle means money arrives far later than with a daily broker.
Forex Rebate Program Requirements: 6 Things To Check Before You Link An Account

Forex rebate program requirements are usually scattered across several pages, so they are easy to miss. The conditions below recur on the Exness, Vantage and HFM pages read on 7 November 2026.
Check these six points:
- The right partner code: The account must be opened through the correct link or sit under the correct IB. Direct sign-ups with the broker earn no rebate.
- A live account: Demo accounts generate no commission, so they earn no rebate.
- KYC completed: Exness and Vantage both state that identity verification is needed, using an ID card, driving licence or passport.
- The right account type and product: Each broker lists the account types that qualify and a rate per instrument. The gold rate often differs sharply from the EURUSD rate.
- No switching to another IB midway: The Exness page says not to reuse an account already tied to another IB and not to change IB after joining.
- Minimum volume or minimum rebate: The Exness, Vantage and HFM pages all state no minimum. With any other partner, ask explicitly.
The fifth condition is the one most often overlooked. An account already tied to another IB must be transferred through the broker's own process, not simply re-declared. For Exness, the broker page describes sending a change-partner request through chat and waiting 24–48 hours for a confirmation email, as read on 7 November 2026. Once Exness approves, the trader must open a new MT4/MT5 account and trade on it to receive rebates.
Standard Link Or High-Rebate Link: Same Program, Different Cost
Some brokers offer two kinds of partner link: a standard link and a high-rebate link (also called a markup link). The high-rebate link pays more back but adds spread, so your real cost may not fall as much as you expect.
On the broker pages read on 7 November 2026, HFM has two links:
- No Markup: Normal spread, 12 USD rebate per lot of gold.
- Markup 1: Added spread, 18 USD rebate per lot of gold, and the page lists a rate for gold only.
Vantage also has two: Standard pays 11.30 USD per lot of gold, while the high-rebate link pays up to 18 USD with spreads listed as 32–36 on the Vantage page.
A gap of 6 USD or 6.70 USD per lot sounds attractive, but it must be set against the added spread. The correct formula is:
Real Cost Per Lot = Spread + Commission − Rebate
Traders who trade gold often may benefit from a high-rebate link if the added spread is smaller than the extra rebate. Traders who mostly trade currency pairs should usually use the standard link. HFM cashback and net cost per lot works through this comparison.
Worked Example: A Month Of 8 Lots Of Gold And 12 Lots Of EURUSD
An example shows how large a rebate is and why it should not be read apart from cost. Suppose a trader closes 8 lots of gold and 12 lots of EURUSD in a month, each on the account type shown in the first column of the table.
| Broker and account | Gold rebate (USD/lot) | EURUSD rebate (USD/lot) | Monthly total (USD) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Exness Standard | 9.61 | 3.20 | 115.28 |
| Vantage Standard STP | 11.30 | 6.12 | 163.84 |
| HFM Premium | 12.00 | 7.20 | 182.40 |
Reference: broker pages on this site as at 7 November 2026. The Exness figure was read at 06:10 UTC (the table refreshes every 15 minutes), and Vantage and HFM are effective from 1 October 2026. Rebates can change, so check again before you open an account or transfer IB.
The workings: Exness is 8 × 9.61 = 76.88 USD plus 12 × 3.20 = 38.40 USD. Vantage is 8 × 11.30 = 90.40 USD plus 12 × 6.12 = 73.44 USD. HFM is 8 × 12 = 96 USD plus 12 × 7.20 = 86.40 USD.
The table only illustrates the multiplication and does not rank the three brokers, because each account has different spreads, commissions and fee structures. A higher rebate does not always mean a lower real cost, and Backcom.io draws no "which broker is better" conclusion from the rebate column alone.

Warning Signs In A Forex Rebate Provider
Not every forex rebate provider is equally transparent. The criteria for comparing rebate providers help you judge them. Pause when you see any of these signs:
- No stated source of funds: The page only says "up to X back" and never says it is the broker's IB commission.
- No conditions attached: Account type, product, effective date and payout cycle are missing.
- A request for login details: A legitimate partner does not need your password, verification code or secret key to share commission. The risk disclaimer on this site says it never asks for login details.
- A broker with no checkable licence: Look up the legal entity on your account with the regulator's register, such as the FCA Register, instead of trusting the referrer's word.
A rebate does not reduce trading risk or regulatory risk.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) About Forex Rebate Programs
Does A Forex Rebate Program Raise Spreads Or Fees?
Normally no, because the rebate comes from the commission the broker pays the partner, not from an added charge to the trader. The exception is a high-rebate link that carries extra spread, such as HFM's Markup link or Vantage's high-rebate link. Read the notes on each link type before choosing.
Do Losing Trades Still Earn A Rebate?
Yes, because the basis is lots closed, not the result of the trade. The Vantage page states that winning and losing trades are both rebated. A rebate will not offset losses caused by a weak strategy or excessive leverage.
Can I Join A Rebate Program With An Existing Broker Account?
It depends on the broker. Some allow an existing account to move to a new partner, while others require a new account. For Exness, the broker page lists both routes and gives 24–48 hours for a partner change, after which a new MT4/MT5 account is needed to receive rebates, so read the process and confirm it with the broker first.
Conclusion: Understand The Mechanics Before The Number
A forex rebate program shares the broker's IB commission with the trader based on lots closed. Traders should weigh three factors together: the source of the money, the payout cycle and form of payment, and the conditions for linking an account, rather than comparing only the biggest "up to" figure.
Before linking, read the risk disclaimer, check the rate for your exact account type, confirm the payout cycle, and never share a password or verification code with anyone. Conditions for each broker are on the Exness, Vantage and HFM pages and in the list of partner forex brokers.
Backcom.io is an independent introducing broker (IB/affiliate) of these brokers, and rebates are paid from the commission the broker pays this partner. See the risk disclaimer.
