To log in to HFM on MT4 or MT5, all you need is the correct Login ID, trading password and Server for your account. That said, if you pick the wrong platform or the wrong server, MetaTrader will throw an error even when the ID and password are perfectly correct.

In this article, Backcom.io shows you how to log in to HFM MT5 and MT4 on desktop and mobile, how to pick the right Server, and how to deal with the errors that come up most often.

What Is HFM? Is It the Same as HotForex?

What HFM is, its HotForex rebrand in 2022 and the regulators licensing HF Markets Group
An overview of HFM

HFM is the multi-asset brokerage brand of HF Markets Group, offering trading platforms including MT4, MT5, the HFM App and WebTrader.

If you knew the name HotForex in the past, that is the brand HFM grew out of.

HFM and HotForex — the Same Broker, Renamed in 2022

In 2022, HotForex rebranded to HFM to reflect a product range that had grown well beyond forex. The official HFM website also records 2022 as the year the brand “Evolved into HFM”.

So:

  • HotForex: the former brand name.
  • HFM: the brand in use today.
  • New accounts should be registered and accessed through the official HFM website and app.

Which Regulators License HFM?

HF Markets Group operates through several entities across different regions. According to the current information on the HFM website, the regulators of some of those group entities include:

  • FCA – Financial Conduct Authority, United Kingdom.
  • FSCA – Financial Sector Conduct Authority, South Africa.
  • FSA – Financial Services Authority, Seychelles.
  • CMA – Capital Markets Authority, Kenya.

The entity and regulator that apply to you depend on the region where your account is registered.

What to Prepare Before Logging In to HFM MT4/MT5

Before logging in, check that you have the account, the platform and the login details in order — it saves time troubleshooting later.

Do You Have an HFM Account Yet? Opening One Quickly

If you don’t have an HFM account yet, register using the details in the box below to start earning HFM rebates on your trades:

Once your trading account is created, HFM issues the details you need to log in to MetaTrader. The myHF area is where you manage the account, deposit and withdraw funds, and create additional trading accounts.

Downloading MetaTrader 4 and MetaTrader 5 for PC

Download MT4/MT5 directly from HFM — it makes finding the right server easier.

The steps:

  1. Go to the Trading Platform section on HFM.
  2. Select MetaTrader 4 or MetaTrader 5.
  3. Choose the Windows or Mac build.
  4. Download and install the software.
  5. Open MetaTrader to start logging in.

HFM currently supports both MT4 and MT5 on desktop.

Downloading MetaTrader 4 and MetaTrader 5 for Mobile

You can also use MT4 or MT5 on a phone.

  • iPhone/iPad: install the matching MetaTrader app on iOS.
  • Android: install MT4 or MT5 for Android.
  • Once installed, search for the broker HF Markets/HFM and log the account in.

Note: an MT4 account has to log in on MT4, and an MT5 account on MT5. The two platforms do not share a trading account.

Have Three Details Ready: Login ID, Password, Server

To log in to HFM, you need exactly three things:

  • Login ID: your trading account number.
  • Trader’s Password: the trading password.
  • Server: the server HFM assigned to your account.

These are normally issued once you create a Live or Demo account. HFM likewise confirms that these are the three details required to log in to the trading platform.

Note: your myHF login password and your MetaTrader trading account password should not be treated as the same thing. When logging in to MT4/MT5, use the trading account details.

How to Log In to HFM MT5 on PC (Windows & Mac)

For an HFM MT5 account, do the following:

  1. Open the MetaTrader 5 software.
  2. Select File → Login to Trade Account.
  3. Enter your Login ID.
  4. Enter your Trader’s Password.
  5. Select the correct HFM Server you were issued.
  6. Click OK/Login.

If the details are correct, MT5 connects to the server and starts showing market prices.

If your ID and password are right but you still cannot log in, check the Server first. HFM currently runs several MT5 servers such as HFMarketsGlobal-Live1, Live3, Live4 and others.

How to Log In to HFM MT4 on PC (Windows & Mac)

For an MT4 account, the process is much the same:

  1. Launch MetaTrader 4.
  2. Select File → Login to Trade Account.
  3. Enter your Login ID.
  4. Enter your trading password.
  5. Select the Server issued by HFM.
  6. Click Login.

HFM uses a number of different MT4 servers — HFMarketsSV-Live Server, Live Server 3, Live Server 4 and so on. So don’t pick a server just because the name looks close.

Important: an HFM account opened for MT4 cannot be used to log in to MT5 directly. To use MT5, you need to create a separate MT5 account.

Logging In to HFM MT4/MT5 on Mobile

Logging in on a phone is much like on a PC, except you do everything inside the MetaTrader app.

Logging In to HFM on iPhone (iOS)

Follow these steps:

  1. Open MT4 or MT5 on your iPhone.
  2. Go to the account management section.
  3. Select Login to an existing account.
  4. Search for HF Markets/HFM.
  5. Select the correct Server.
  6. Enter your Login ID and Password.
  7. Complete the login.

Once connected, you can follow prices and charts and manage orders straight from your phone.

Logging In to HFM on Android

On Android:

  1. Open MT4 or MT5.
  2. Add a new trading account.
  3. Choose to log in to an existing account.
  4. Search for the broker HFM/HF Markets.
  5. Select the exact Server.
  6. Enter your ID and password.
  7. Confirm the login.

If several similar-looking servers appear, match them against your account details rather than picking one at random.

If any of this is still unclear, watch the video guide below:

MetaTrader App vs the HFM Online Trading App — Which Should You Use?

HFM offers both MetaTrader and its own HFM app for trading. The HFM App handles multiple accounts, order placement, charts, market prices and fund management in one place.

A simple way to choose:

  • MetaTrader: best if you already know MT4/MT5 and use indicators, EAs or the wider MetaTrader ecosystem.
  • HFM App: best if you want account management and trading in a single app.
  • New traders: try both and pick the interface that suits you.

Whichever app you use, your underlying trading account does not change.

How to Pick the Right HFM Server on First Login

The wrong Server is one of the most common reasons traders cannot log in to HFM even when the ID and password are correct.

The rule: pick exactly the server HFM assigned to your account.

The HFM-Demo Server

Demo accounts use their own Demo servers — names in the form HFMarketsGlobal-Demo, for example.

Don’t use a Live server for a Demo account, or the other way round.

The HFM Server Isn’t in the List — What to Do

If MetaTrader doesn’t show your Server:

  1. Re-check the Server name in your account details.
  2. Search again for the broker HF Markets/HFM.
  3. Close and reopen MetaTrader.
  4. Check your internet connection.
  5. Update MetaTrader to the latest version.
  6. If it still isn’t there, use the Server address/IP provided by HFM or contact HFM Support.

HFM allows the server address to be entered manually when the server you need doesn’t appear in the list.

5 Common HFM Login Errors & How to Fix Them

Common HFM login errors and how to fix them

When logging in to HFM MT5 or MT4, most errors come down to the ID, Password, Server or your network connection.

“Invalid Account” — Wrong Login ID or Password

When you hit an Invalid Account error, check:

  • Whether the Login ID is correct.
  • Whether you typed your myHF password by mistake.
  • Whether the account is on MT4 or MT5.
  • Whether you picked the right Server.
  • Whether the account is still active.

Copy the account details rather than typing them by hand — it avoids mistyped characters.

“No Connection” — Cannot Reach the Server

If MetaTrader reports No Connection:

  1. Check your internet.
  2. Switch from Wi-Fi to 4G/5G or the other way round.
  3. Restart MetaTrader.
  4. Check the Server.
  5. Update the app.
  6. Try logging in again after a few minutes.

If several devices all fail to connect, check the server status or contact HFM Support.

“Account Disabled” or “Account Blocked” — the Account Is Locked

This appears when the account has been restricted, disabled, or is otherwise no longer in normal working status.

What to do:

  • Check the notifications in myHF.
  • Check the most recent email from HFM.
  • Complete any outstanding verification requirements.
  • Contact HFM Support to check the account status.

Don’t keep changing your password when the real cause is the account status.

The HFM Server Isn’t in the List

If the Server you need isn’t there:

  • Search again using the name HF Markets.
  • Confirm whether you are on MT4 or MT5.
  • Update MetaTrader.
  • Enter the Server address manually if HFM supplies one.
  • Contact Support if it still won’t connect.

Above all, don’t select a different Server just because the name looks similar.

Forgotten Password — Resetting It Through myHF

If you have forgotten your password:

  1. Go to the myHF login page.
  2. Select the password reset function.
  3. Enter your registered email or phone number.
  4. Verify using the method HFM provides.
  5. Set a new password.
  6. Log back in to the account.

HFM supports a password reset process based on your account details plus a security verification step.

Note: pick the right link type when you first open the account, so you don’t have to switch or re-link later.

Summary

Logging in to HFM on MT4/MT5 is genuinely simple. You just need three details to be right:

  1. Login ID.
  2. Trader’s Password.
  3. HFM Server.

Of those, the wrong MT4/MT5 platform or Server are the two things to check first when a login fails.

Once you are in, you can trade as normal — and check your Backcom link if you want part of your HFM trading costs back.

To earn rebates, register an HFM account through the Backcom.io link and follow the detailed video guide below to receive rebates daily:

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

How Long Does an HFM Demo Account Last? Does It Need KYC?

A Demo account uses virtual funds for practice and generally does not require KYC the way a Live account does. How long it stays available can depend on HFM’s policy at the time.

Can HFM’s MT4 and MT5 Share the Same Account?

No. An account created on MT4 logs in only on MT4, and an MT5 account only on MT5.

What Is the “Common Error” When Logging In to HFM?

It usually relates to the connection, the wrong Server or wrong login details. Check:

  • Your internet.
  • Your Login ID and Password.
  • The HFM Server.
  • That you are on the right MT4/MT5 platform.

Should You Log In to HFM Through Their Own App (HFM Online Trading)?

You can. The HFM App suits you if you want to manage the account and trade from your phone. If you need EAs or indicators, or you already know MetaTrader, stay with MT4/MT5.

After Registering Through Backcom, How Long Until Rebates Appear?

Once the account is correctly linked to Backcom and you generate eligible trades, rebates are recorded on the reconciliation cycle. If nothing appears, re-check the account link status.
