You have a position open and suddenly HFM blocked — Chrome reports “This site can’t be reached”. The error varies by internet provider and does not mean there is anything wrong with your account. This guide covers how to access HFM on desktop and mobile, 5 things to try when you still cannot access HFM, and how to avoid fake sites.
Why Is HFM Blocked? A 30-Second Diagnosis
HFM blocked usually comes down to your internet provider failing to resolve hfm.com correctly through its default DNS. The website may not open, but your myHF account, the trading servers and your running orders do not change by themselves. Switching to Cloudflare DNS 1.1.1.1 normally restores access.
The behaviour can differ between providers, and between Wi-Fi and mobile data. If the site opens on one network but fails on another, the problem is most likely DNS. The licensing picture is analysed separately in our HFM review.
Before you change any settings, match your symptom against this table:
| Symptom | Likely cause | What to do |
|---|---|---|
Chrome shows DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NXDOMAIN, but mobile data or another network opens it | The ISP resolver is not returning the right address | Enable DNS 1.1.1.1 in Chrome using the 5 steps below |
| Every network fails, the page loads forever or shows a maintenance notice | HFM maintenance or a server incident | Check the in-app notices and contact HFM support |
| The website opens but myHF rejects your login details | Wrong password, wrong region or a restricted account | Reset the password and contact support — changing DNS does not fix an account issue |
| MT4/MT5 and the HFM app still show prices, only the website fails | Only the web domain is unreachable | Keep managing orders in the app or MT4/MT5, then change DNS |
In a number of countries, international forex brokers are not licensed to operate domestically, and broker domains have been restricted before. That makes it important to separate a website failure from the state of your account and the trading servers.
How To Tell You Are Being Blocked At The DNS Layer
Turn Wi-Fi off and try hfm.com over mobile data. If it works, the fault is probably the Wi-Fi network. Then open one.one.one.one/help to check 1.1.1.1 and DoH, and use chrome://net-internals/#dns to clear stale records. HFM blocked at the domain layer does not erase your balance or your orders.
What Does Change Chrome DNS To 1.1.1.1 Mean, And Why Does It Restore Access?

DNS is the “phone book” that turns hfm.com into a server address. If your provider’s resolver returns the wrong answer or none at all, Chrome can report that the page does not exist even though the website is running.
When you change Chrome DNS to 1.1.1.1, the browser asks Cloudflare over DNS over HTTPS instead of relying solely on the default resolver. See Cloudflare’s official setup documentation for the details.
This is a relatively fast way to access HFM again, because it needs no extra software and does not change your whole device’s connection. The same method applies to comparable cases such as XM blocked and how to access it with DNS 1.1.1.1 or Exness blocked.
How Is Secure DNS Different From Ordinary DNS?
Secure DNS encrypts the query to the provider you selected. It does not turn a fake website into a safe one, so you still have to check the domain before entering a password, an OTP, or making a deposit or withdrawal.
Is Changing DNS The Same As Using A VPN?
No. DNS only changes where domain names are looked up, while a VPN routes your traffic through an intermediate server. DNS does not sit permanently on the MT4/MT5 price path, so it normally does not slow execution. If HFM blocked is being enforced by some other mechanism, you will need the next options below.
How To Access HFM: Enable DNS 1.1.1.1 In Chrome In 5 Steps

Here is how to access HFM using secure DNS in desktop Chrome. Menu names shift slightly between versions.
If you would rather watch it done first, the video below walks through reaching a website when the connection is being blocked:
Step 1: Open Chrome Settings

Open Chrome, click the three-dot icon in the top right and choose Settings. Faster: paste chrome://settings/security into the address bar and press Enter to jump straight to the security page.
Step 2: Go To Privacy And Security

In the left-hand menu, select Privacy and security, then open Security. If your Chrome looks different, use the search box inside Settings and type “secure DNS”.
Step 3: Turn On “Use Secure DNS”

Scroll to the advanced section and switch on Use secure DNS. If the toggle is greyed out, the browser may be under a company, school or parental-control policy. In that case, change DNS at the operating system, the router, or on your phone.
Step 4: Change Chrome DNS To 1.1.1.1 From The List Or A Custom Entry
Choose the option to select another provider, then pick Cloudflare (1.1.1.1) from the list. If Cloudflare is not shown, choose the custom provider field and enter https://cloudflare-dns.com/dns-query. This is the decisive step when you change Chrome DNS to 1.1.1.1.
Google documents Chrome’s secure DNS feature along the same path: Settings → Privacy and security → Security. Never enter a DNS address taken from an unfamiliar website — an untrustworthy resolver can hand back fake addresses.
Step 5: Reload The HFM Website
Close the Settings tab, reopen your saved HFM link or reload with Ctrl + F5. If HFM blocked was caused by the default resolver, the page usually works after this step. If it still fails, flush the DNS cache as described in the next section and retry in an incognito window.
The whole process takes about two minutes. When the page opens, check the domain before you log in.
Check Whether DNS 1.1.1.1 Is Actually Working
Open Cloudflare’s 1.1.1.1 test page. If Connected to 1.1.1.1 and Using DNS over HTTPS (DoH) both say “Yes”, Chrome is connected correctly. If either says “No”, restart Chrome and re-check the DNS provider setting.
Change DNS 1.1.1.1 On Android And iPhone

If the desktop still will not connect, your phone is the backup route to access HFM, check the account and manage orders. Unlike the Chrome-only setting, a device-wide Private DNS covers the browser, MT5 mobile and the HFM app.
On Android
In Chrome for Android, go to Settings → Privacy and security → Use secure DNS, enable it and select Cloudflare. On Android 9 and later you can change it for the whole device via Settings → Network and internet → Private DNS → Private DNS provider hostname: enter one.one.one.one and save.
Menu names vary by manufacturer. Search for “Private DNS” in Settings, save, then toggle Wi-Fi or mobile data off and on. Android’s Private DNS applies to both network types.
On iPhone
For Wi-Fi, go to Settings → Wi-Fi → the (i) icon next to your network → Configure DNS → Manual. Remove the old entries if needed, add 1.1.1.1 and 1.0.0.1, then save. This applies only to the Wi-Fi network you selected, not to mobile data.
To cover mobile data, install the official 1.1.1.1 + WARP app. Select 1.1.1.1 first and only enable WARP if the resolver alone is not enough. Then reopen your verified HFM link.
Still Cannot Access HFM? 5 Things To Try Next

If secure DNS is on and you still cannot access HFM, do not change several settings at once. Work through the five options below to establish whether the fault is the cache, the resolver, the device, the website or the account.
1. Flush The DNS Cache And The Browser Cache
Chrome may still be holding the bad answer it resolved earlier. On Windows, open Command Prompt with the right permissions, type ipconfig /flushdns and press Enter. Then open chrome://net-internals/#dns, choose Clear host cache, close every Chrome window and restart.
If it still fails, clear the cookies for hfm.com specifically or try an incognito window. This helps when the new resolver is already working but Chrome remembers the old record.
2. Use A Backup Resolver When 1.1.1.1 Is Blocked Too
In Chrome, switch the provider to Google Public DNS or enter https://dns.google/dns-query. At the operating system level you can try 1.0.0.1, 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4. Change one setting at a time and re-test, so you know which one actually worked.
If secure DNS itself is restricted, try the 1.1.1.1 app with WARP. Because WARP routes more of your traffic and can add latency, do not make it your default while scalping if the ping rises noticeably.
3. Change DNS At The Operating System Or Router
When several browsers and apps all fail, a Chrome-only setting is not enough. On Windows, open the network settings, select the active Wi-Fi or Ethernet connection, set DNS server assignment to manual and enter 1.1.1.1 and 1.0.0.1. On macOS, go to System Settings → Network → Details → DNS and add the same two addresses.
Changing DNS in the router’s Internet, WAN or DHCP section applies it to every device. The menu location depends on the modem — write down the old DNS before you edit anything.
4. Use The HFM App Or myHF For Funding, And MT4/MT5 To Trade
The HFM app is the quickest fallback while the website is down. According to the official app page, existing users can sign in, reach their trading accounts and manage funds in the HF Wallet. Download the official HFM app from HFM’s own page so you are sent to the correct Google Play or App Store listing.
If the HFM app shows your balance and MT4/MT5 still quotes prices, the incident is probably limited to the website. Keep managing orders on the platform, and see our guide on logging in to HFM on MT4/MT5 if you need it.
If both the app and MT5 lose connection, switch to mobile data or change DNS device-wide. Check the quotes, the journal and the official notices before drawing a conclusion.
5. Contact HFM Support
If HFM blocked persists on every network, contact support through the app, a myHF session that is still signed in, or an official contact channel. Ask two specific questions: whether the system is under maintenance, and which domain HFM confirms for your region.
Never post a password, an OTP, an identity document or card details into a community group. If the problem involves login or verification, changing DNS to access HFM is no substitute for account support.
Warning: Do Not Log In On Fake HFM Sites While Hunting For A “New Link”
When HFM blocked hits, searching for a “new HFM link” can land you on a website that has copied the interface. Fake domains often bolt on a country abbreviation or a hyphen to look official.
Official HFM Domains And The Ones To Be Careful With
| Status | Domain or domain pattern | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Verified through HFM’s own systems | hfm.com | The international site and HFM’s language paths |
| Verified through HFM’s own systems | my.hfm.com | The myHF client area — open it from a saved link or the app |
| Not sufficiently established as official | hfviet.com | Do not enter any details until HFM or the partner responsible confirms it directly |
| Unverified and structured to cause confusion | Names such as hfm-vn, hfm-viet, vnd-hfm, viet-hfm, hfm-vietnam | Do not log in, do not deposit, do not download an app from these |
This table does not claim that every unverified domain is fraudulent. It does mean you should not hand over sensitive information before you have official confirmation — use the app or a link you saved earlier.
Rules For Accessing HFM Safely
- Check for HTTPS and read the whole domain, especially the characters immediately before
.com. - Never enter your myHF password or an OTP through a link sent in a private message.
- Enable the extra security layers myHF supports, and do not reuse your email password.
- Install the HFM app only from Google Play, the App Store or HFM’s official app page.
It is worth reviewing the signs of a forex broker scam as well. If you trade through Backcom, open the HFM cashback page to use the link the team actually maintains.
Frequently Asked Questions About HFM Blocked
Is It Legal And Safe To Change Chrome DNS To 1.1.1.1?
Public DNS is a legitimate service and Chrome ships with secure DNS built in. The change does not alter your balance or your control over the account. What DNS does not do is protect you when you log in on a lookalike domain. Always check the domain before entering a password, an OTP or payment details.
Does DNS 1.1.1.1 Slow My Connection Or Affect Execution?
DNS is used only while the device resolves a domain; it does not sit permanently on the MT4/MT5 price feed. Changing the resolver therefore does not normally affect execution. If web pages feel slow, try 1.0.0.1 or Google DNS — note that WARP can increase ping.
Does HFM Blocked Affect My Funds And Open Positions?
Normally not. A name resolution failure does not directly touch the servers, your balance or orders you have already sent. Stop Loss and Take Profit continue to work if they were set successfully. Check in MT4/MT5 or the HFM app; if every channel fails, contact HFM through official means.
Does The HFM App Work When The Website Is Blocked?
In many cases the HFM app keeps working and still supports trading accounts and the HF Wallet. If the app will not connect, try mobile data, Android Private DNS or the 1.1.1.1 app on iPhone. Install only from official stores and check the publisher.
Do I Have To Change DNS Every Time I Open HFM?
No. Chrome remembers the DNS provider until you change the setting. You only need to switch if the network blocks DoH, Cloudflare has an incident, or 1.1.1.1 stops working. In that case try 1.0.0.1, Google DNS, or a resolver set at the operating system level.
Conclusion
When HFM blocked happens, work through three layers: turn on Cloudflare DNS in Chrome; if that is not enough, change DNS device-wide, on the router or on your phone; finally, use the HFM app or MT4/MT5 to manage the account while you wait. The safest way to access HFM is still the official domain or a link you have already verified. Visit the Backcom HFM page for the current guidance and cashback policy.
