Exness Vs HFM: Spread, Fees, Rebates And Which Broker To Choose

Published 12 min read

Exness vs HFM net gold cost: two glass blocks with the Exness and HFM logos beside a gold bar on a black and lime stage

Most traders pick a broker from a single advertised number, usually a spread "from 0 pips" or a rebate "up to" some dollars per lot. Each figure shows only half of the cost. An Exness vs HFM comparison only means something once you add spread and commission, then subtract the rebate for the exact account you would use.

This guide puts HFM vs Exness gold costs on one formula, because gold has the largest cost per lot of the common products. In this article, Backcom.io walks through:

  • Legal entities and licenses you should read before depositing at either broker.
  • Account types at Exness and HFM, matched by how they charge rather than by name.
  • Exness HFM spread and commission for gold after rebates, with a 10-lot example and a break-even spread.
  • Exness HFM rebate differences in calculation, payout schedule and conditions.
  • Exness or HFM by trading style, without ranking either broker on numbers that were not measured under the same conditions.

Exness Vs HFM At A Glance

Exness and HFM are long-running forex and CFD brokers that support MT4 and MT5 and offer low-spread accounts with commission. The biggest difference is how each broker calculates the rebate, not what the accounts are called.

Legal Entities And Licenses: Which Company Do You Contract With?

Exness vs HFM legal entities: one broker brand, several entities, with the license and regulator register to check
Legal Entities And Licenses: Which Company Do You Contract With?

A broker license belongs to a specific legal entity, not to the brand name in the advertising. Exness and HFM both operate through several entities in several countries, so your account belongs to only one of them.

For HFM, the HFM review checked on 1 September 2026 lists:

  1. HF Markets (UK) Ltd: FCA license 801701, mainly serving clients within the UK scope.
  2. HF Markets (Europe) Ltd: CySEC license 183/12.
  3. HF Markets SA (PTY) Ltd: FSCA license 46632 in South Africa.
  4. HF Markets (SV) Ltd: a company registered in St. Vincent and the Grenadines that signs the international Client Agreement and is not an FCA or CySEC licensed entity.

For Exness, the Exness review names entities under the FCA, CySEC, FSA Seychelles, FSCA and CMA Kenya. The entity that signs with clients from each country was not verified for this article, so it does not claim which broker protects you better.

Before depositing at any broker, you should:

  • Read the entity name in the Client Agreement at sign-up, not the regulator logo in the footer.
  • Check the license number on the original register, for example the FCA register or the CySEC website.
  • Note the governing law of the contract and where disputes are settled.

Read the full checklist in the guide to 7 criteria for a reputable forex broker. An international account does not automatically carry the same protection as a client of an FCA or CySEC entity. Rules also differ by country of residence, so check the accepted and restricted countries list for your KYC country.

Exness And HFM Account Types: Matched By How They Charge

Account names differ between the two brokers, so match them by how they charge: spread only, or spread plus commission. This avoids comparing a no-commission account with a raw one.

Two points cause the most confusion. First, "from 0 pips" is the lowest figure the broker publishes, not an average spread, and gold spreads widen sharply around news. Second, the HFM Zero minimum deposit differs between the table ($0) and the FAQ ($25) in the HFM trading fees article, so confirm it in myHF.

Exness HFM Spread And Gold Costs: Net Cost Formula After Rebates

Gold net cost formula after rebates: spread times 100 plus commission minus rebate equals net cost, one lot equals 100 oz
Exness HFM Spread And Gold Costs: Net Cost Formula After Rebates

The net cost of one gold lot is spread plus commission, minus the rebate. One lot of XAUUSD is 100 ounces, so every 0.01 USD of spread per ounce equals 1 USD per lot.

Net cost per lot = Spread × 100 + Round-turn commission − Rebate

The formula explains why the account with the lowest spread is not always the cheapest. A raw account charges commission, while a no-commission account usually has a larger rebate because its spread is wider.

Rebate Per Lot At Exness And HFM

The two brokers pay rebates differently in nature. Exness updates its rebate with the current spread, refreshed every 15 minutes, so the table below is only right at the time of reading. HFM uses fixed rates from a table effective 1 October 2026.

HFM also has two links with different gold rebates: the No Markup link pays 12 USD per lot and the Markup 1 link (spread SP43) pays 18 USD per lot. Markup 1 pays more because extra spread is added, and that markup was not measured here. Compare spreads on your own MT5 before treating 18 USD as an advantage.

Worked Example For 10 Lots Of Gold And Break-Even Spread

The example uses the same assumed spread for each pair of comparable accounts, so it isolates commission and rebate. These are not measured spreads. The HFM spreads follow the "from" figures on its account page, checked on 31 August 2026. HFM Zero gold commission is 10 USD per lot round turn according to the HFM fees article, and Exness Raw uses the 3.50 USD per side cap, or 7 USD round turn.

HFM Premium0.32320120200
Exness Pro0.16160≈ 40≈ 120
HFM Pro0.1616056104
Exness Raw0.0660 + 70 = 13030100
HFM Zero0.0660 + 100 = 16056104

Reference: calculation as at 4 November 2026. Spreads are assumptions for illustration, not measurements; replace them with the spread you read on your own MT5 before drawing conclusions.

At equal spreads, Exness Standard is about 8 USD cheaper than HFM Premium, HFM Pro is about 16 USD cheaper than Exness Pro, and Exness Raw is 4 USD cheaper than HFM Zero. The gap comes from commission and rebate, before any real spread difference.

That gives the break-even spread, calculated against HFM at the assumed spread in the table:

  • Standard and Premium pair: Exness breaks even at a spread of about 0.333 USD/oz, roughly 0.013 above HFM, because the Standard rebate rises with spread.
  • Pro pair: Exness needs a spread no higher than about 0.139 USD/oz, roughly 0.021 below HFM.
  • Raw and Zero pair: both are fixed, so Exness breaks even if its spread is no more than 0.004 USD/oz above HFM.

Gold spreads change with the session and with news, so check this threshold against the hours when you actually trade. The what is forex spread guide explains what widens it.

Which Trades May Not Earn A Rebate

A rebate is paid out of IB commission, so a few conditions stop it from applying:

  • Demo accounts do not earn a rebate.
  • Existing accounts that have not moved their IB to the referring partner earn nothing, and the move needs broker approval, usually 24–48 hours according to the Exness page.
  • HFM's terms for very short trades were not verified, so scalpers should ask before relying on a rebate.

Beyond spread and rebate, costs include swap and inactivity fees. HFM lists inactivity fees of 5, 10 and 20 USD a month depending on how long an account sits idle, while Exness does not currently charge this fee according to the Exness trading fees article. Exness swap-free status can change with trading behavior, so check it in the Personal Area.

Exness HFM Rebate: Rates, Payout Schedule And Conditions

Exness HFM rebate paid daily: Exness rebate floats with spread while HFM rebate is fixed by a table
Exness HFM Rebate: Rates, Payout Schedule And Conditions

An Exness HFM rebate is money returned from the IB commission the broker pays to the referring partner. It is passed to you at the rate shown on the broker page and paid daily to the trading account.

Two differences deserve attention, in how the rate moves and in which link you pick:

  1. Exness has a floating rebate: today's figure may not be next week's, because the table follows the current spread. The page says "up to 14.4 USD per lot" depending on product and account type; the Standard gold rebate read on 4 November 2026 was 9.60 USD per lot.
  2. HFM has fixed rates: easier to plan costs around, but the Markup 1 link trades a larger rebate for a wider spread. Both need the right link, and a rebate lowers cost without turning a losing strategy profitable.

The general formula for both brokers:

Rebate = Lots × Rebate per lot for the exact account and product

For example, 10 lots of gold on Exness Standard earn 96 USD (at the spread when the table was read, since the Standard rebate moves with spread) on the 4 November 2026 table, while 10 lots on HFM Premium earn 120 USD. For a step-by-step process, see the HFM rebate calculation guide.

Choosing Between Exness Or HFM By Trading Style

There is no single answer to Exness or HFM, because the result depends on your trading style, hours and volume. This guide does not rank the two brokers without spreads measured under the same conditions, so the table below only suggests what to measure.

Trading styleWhat to measure firstAccount pairing to test
Gold scalping, many entriesAverage gold spread in the US sessionRaw group: Exness Raw or Zero with HFM Zero
Holding for several daysSwap and inactivity feesNo-commission group: Exness Standard or Pro with HFM Pro or Premium
Small capital, testing a brokerMinimum deposit and spread at news timeExness Standard or Cent, HFM Cent or Premium
EAs and botsSlippage and execution stabilityRaw account, tested on demo before real money

The simplest approach is to open a demo or small account at both brokers, record the gold spread at three moments (Asian session, European session, US news), put the numbers into the net cost formula and compare them with the break-even spread.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) About Exness Vs HFM

HFM Vs Exness Gold Costs: Which Broker Is Lower?

Neither is lower in every condition. In the example with equal assumed spreads, Exness Standard is about 8 USD cheaper than HFM Premium per 10 lots, HFM Pro is about 16 USD cheaper than Exness Pro, and the Raw and Zero pair differs by 4 USD in favor of Exness Raw. The real result depends on the spread you measure in your own trading hours.

Are Exness And HFM Rebates Fixed?

HFM uses fixed rates from a table effective 1 October 2026. Exness updates its rebate with the current spread, refreshed every 15 minutes, so the figure can move. Read the table on the broker page just before you open an account instead of relying on a number you saved earlier.

Are The Zero Accounts At Both Brokers The Same?

No. Both start from 0 pips and charge commission, but the commission differs. HFM Zero charges 3 USD per lot on forex according to the broker page, while Exness Raw charges up to 3.50 USD per lot per side and Exness Zero from 0.05 USD. Check the fee table for each symbol.

Conclusion: Compare Net Cost Per Account Pair Before Choosing A Broker

An Exness vs HFM comparison is only accurate when you weigh three things together: the legal entity you contract with, how each account type charges and the rebate for that exact account. A single advertised figure, such as a spread from 0 pips or a rebate up to 14.4 USD, is not enough to decide.

What to do next: match accounts by how they charge, measure the real gold spread on MT5, put it into the net cost formula and compare it with the break-even spread in this guide. Do not pick a broker only because its rebate is larger or its spread smaller in one time window.

Once you have a pair of accounts, you can check the current rebate terms on the Exness page or the HFM page. Backcom.io is an independent introducing broker (IB/affiliate) of these brokers; rebates are paid from the commission the broker pays Backcom.io, see the risk disclaimer.
