If you already hold an XM account that is not linked to a rebate partner, changing your XM IB is what lets you start earning cashback. You do it by opening an additional MT4 or MT5 trading account inside your existing XM profile and entering the Backcom partner code.

Note that XM does not support changing the IB directly on an existing trading account. So to have your rebates recorded, you need to:

  1. Open an additional XM trading account.
  2. Enter the correct partner code when creating it.
  3. Check the link status.
  4. Trade on that new account.

The guide below walks you through how to transfer your XM IB/partner, verify the link and activate your rebates.

What does it mean to transfer your XM IB/partner?

Transferring your XM IB/partner means linking your trading account to a new partner so you receive support and earn rebates.

XM normally does not allow the IB to be changed directly on an existing MT4/MT5 account. So you need to open an additional trading account inside your current XM profile, enter the Backcom partner code, and verify the link before you trade.

What does an XM IB actually do?

The role of the XM IB: XM records volume, pays commission and Backcom shares it back
The role of the XM IB in the rebate mechanism

An IB is the partner that refers traders to XM. When an account generates eligible trades:

  • XM records the trading volume.
  • XM pays commission to the IB.
  • Backcom shares part of that commission back with the trader as a rebate.

The rebate is calculated from eligible trades, regardless of whether a trade won or lost.

Does transferring your XM IB change your existing account?

No. You do not need to delete your XM profile or re-register your personal details.

That said, an existing MT4/MT5 account usually cannot be switched to a new IB. You need to open an additional trading account inside the same XM profile and enter the partner code as you create it.

Keep in mind:

  • Your old account keeps working as normal.
  • The new account has its own ID and server.
  • Positions and balances do not move across automatically.
  • Trades on the old account are not automatically counted for Backcom rebates.

When should you change your XM partner?

Change your XM partner when your current account is not linked to a rebate system, or when it sits under a different IB. Before you do, check your trading ID so you don’t open an account you don’t need.

When should you change your XM partner?

You have an XM account but no rebate IB

A transfer makes sense if you:

  • Registered with XM directly and entered no referral code.
  • Are already trading but receiving no rebates.
  • Don’t know which IB your current account belongs to.

In that case, open an additional MT4/MT5 account, enter the Backcom partner code and verify the link before trading.

Your account sits under another XM partner

If your existing account belongs to another IB, you normally cannot change the partner code on that ID.

The right approach is to:

  1. Leave the old account as it is.
  2. Open an additional trading account.
  3. Enter the Backcom partner code.
  4. Trade on the account whose link has been confirmed.

When you don’t need to transfer at all

You don’t need to transfer your XM IB if:

  • You have no XM account yet and can register a new one through Backcom.
  • Your current account is already confirmed as part of the Backcom system.
  • You only use a demo account.
  • You have no interest in receiving rebates.

If you’re not sure, check your XM ID before opening any additional account.

How to transfer your XM IB/partner through Backcom.io

To transfer your XM IB/partner you do not need to create a new profile. Instead, log in to your existing XM account, open an additional trading account, and enter the Backcom partner code during setup.

Step 1: Log in to your XM members area

Go to the official XM website or app and log in with your existing account.

Before you start, check that:

  • Your profile has been verified.
  • The account is still active.
  • You are not on a demo account by mistake.

Step 2: Choose to open an additional XM trading account

In the account management area, select open an additional live trading account.

You only need to create one more MT4 or MT5 account inside the same XM profile — there is no need to re-register your personal details.

Step 3: Pick the account type and enter the Backcom partner code

Continue filling in the details:

  • MT4 or MT5 platform.
  • Account type.
  • Base currency.
  • Leverage.
  • The Backcom partner code.

Enter the partner code correctly at this step — once an account has been created, the IB usually cannot be added or changed afterwards.

Step 4: Set a password and save your new account details

Finish setting your password and make a note of:

  1. The MT4/MT5 account ID.
  2. The trading server.
  3. The account type.
  4. Your login password.

Once created, confirm the account is successfully linked to Backcom before depositing funds or trading in size.

How to check and activate your XM rebates

After opening the new XM account and entering the Backcom partner code, verify the link before you trade. This makes sure the volume you generate is recorded for a rebate.

Check whether your XM account is linked to Backcom

Open Backcom’s XM Checker tool and enter the ID of your new MT4/MT5 account.

Check Backcom XM

Enter your MT5 Login ID to look up Backcom XM participation and rebate figures.

Data syncs from XM Partners about every hour (Backcom status + rebate figures). For reference only.

The result is usually one of:

  • Linked: the account is part of the Backcom system.
  • Not linked: the data has not updated yet, or the account was created without the correct partner code.

If it is not recorded, double-check the ID or contact Backcom before you start trading.

Start trading on the correct new account

Once the link is confirmed, log in to MT4/MT5 using:

  1. The new account ID.
  2. The correct trading password.
  3. The correct XM server.

Only trades placed on the linked account are considered for a rebate. Trading on the old account is not counted automatically.

Track your rebates in the Backcom system

Once a trade has closed and reconciliation is complete, you can check:

  • Trading volume.
  • The instruments traded.
  • The rebate recorded.
  • Payment status.

If no data appears, wait for the update cycle to finish, or contact Backcom with your account ID and trade details so it can be checked.

What if you cannot transfer your XM partner?

Common issues when switching your XM IB partner and how to check again
What if you cannot transfer your XM partner?

If your XM account is not linked to Backcom, do not trade in size. Re-check how the account was created, the partner code and the MT4/MT5 ID before contacting support.

If the account is not eligible for a transfer, you can register a new XM account through the Backcom.io link.

You can’t find the referral code field

If there is no field for the partner code, try the following:

  1. Check that you selected open an additional live trading account.
  2. Try again on the website or in a different browser.
  3. Look for fields labelled Partner Code, Referral Code or similar.
  4. Contact Backcom for guidance based on the current XM interface.

Don’t finish creating the account until you are sure the partner code has been entered correctly.

You entered the code but the account isn’t under Backcom

If the system has not recorded your account:

  • Check you are using the correct new MT4/MT5 ID.
  • Confirm the partner code was not mistyped.
  • Wait for the system to update its data.
  • Send your account ID to Backcom to be checked.

If the account was created with the wrong code, you may need to open another account and repeat the process correctly.

You’ve traded but no rebate has appeared

A rebate may not show yet because the trade has not closed or the data has not finished reconciling. Check:

  • Was the trade placed on the correctly linked account?
  • Has the position been fully closed?
  • Do the volume and instrument qualify for a rebate?
  • Has the system reached its update point?

If it still is not recorded, send your account ID, ticket numbers, instrument and volume so Backcom can look into it. Never share your password or authentication codes.

A rebate only offsets part of your trading costs. It does not change whether a trade wins or loses, and it does not remove market risk.

Summary

To transfer your XM IB/partner and start earning rebates, open an additional MT4/MT5 account inside your existing XM profile, enter the correct Backcom partner code, and verify the link before trading.

The process:

  1. Log in to your XM account.
  2. Open an additional trading account.
  3. Enter the Backcom partner code.
  4. Confirm the ID has been linked successfully.
  5. Trade on the correct new account.
  6. Track your rebates in the Backcom system.

Don’t trade in size until the account is confirmed. And remember that trades placed on your old account are normally not counted for rebates under the new partner.

No. You keep your existing XM profile and simply open one additional trading account.

Can I still use my old XM account?

Yes. But trades on the old account are not automatically counted for Backcom rebates.

Do my funds and positions move to the new account?

No. The old and new accounts have their own IDs, servers, balances and histories.

How do I know my account is linked to Backcom?

Enter your new MT4/MT5 ID into Backcom’s XM Checker tool. Only start trading once the link is confirmed.

  • The data has not been reconciled.
