Ultima Markets fees 2026: the spread table for Standard and ECN accounts, how commission is calculated, the overnight fee, and how to cut your cost per lot.
Rate this post

A low advertised spread does not mean a low total cost. Assessing Ultima Markets fees properly means adding up the Ultima Markets spread, commission and overnight fee together, account type by account type.

This article sets out the fee table for each Ultima Markets account, how commission is calculated, how to check swap directly in MT4/MT5, and the two levers that actually reduce your total cost per lot.

Ultima Markets Fees: The Four Cost Groups

Ultima Markets fees come from four groups. Spread and commission hit every trade directly, while swap only arises when a position is held overnight.

Fee typeReference levelCharacteristics
SpreadFrom 1.0 pip (Standard) · from 0.0 pips (ECN)Floating; widens with liquidity and news
Commission0 USD (Standard) · 5 USD per lot round-turn (ECN)ECN trades a tighter spread for commission
Overnight feeVaries by instrument and Buy/Sell sideCharged when a position is held past rollover

The four Ultima Markets fee groups at a glance

The most commonly misread figure is “from 0.0 pips”. That is only the lowest level that can appear, not a fixed spread. When liquidity thins or major data lands, the real spread runs considerably higher.

On Swap-Free accounts, the Ultima Markets broker does not book swap in the usual way but may apply an administrative fee for holding overnight. “No swap” is therefore not the same as “free to hold”.

Ultima Markets Account Types and Their Fee Structures

There are four main options. The differences lie in spread, commission and the range of instruments available.

Full details and eligibility conditions are on the Ultima Markets account types page. All four run on MT4/MT5, WebTrader and the mobile app; the two Cent accounts operate mainly on MT5.

On ECN commission, the base rate works out at roughly 2.5 USD per side per lot — that is 5 USD for a full open-and-close cycle. At small volumes, platform rounding can push the real cost slightly higher.

Is a Swap-Free Account Really Free Overnight?

Not exactly. Swap-Free is a mechanism applied to eligible accounts, and under the client agreement such an account may incur an administrative fee in place of swap when a position is held overnight.

Swap-Free conditions also change by account, instrument and policy at the time. If you hold positions for days, read the terms rather than choosing on the phrase “no swap” alone.

Which Account Is Cheapest for Your Style?

No single Ultima Markets account is cheapest for everyone. The choice should follow your trading frequency:

  1. Beginners, few trades: Standard is easier to control because there is no commission.
  2. Scalpers and EA users: ECN is worth considering for raw spreads from 0.0 pips.
  3. Small capital: Standard Cent reduces position size while still trading real money.
  4. Small capital but tight spreads: ECN Cent pairs cent units with raw spreads.

For high-frequency styles, a few tenths of a pip per trade compound into a large difference once the trade count climbs. A cost-based broker comparison such as our roundup of the top low spread forex brokers is a useful reference point.

What Is the Real Ultima Markets Spread?

The real Ultima Markets spread: floating spreads that widen with liquidity, session timing and market volatility
What the Ultima Markets spread actually looks like in practice

The Ultima Markets spread is quoted from 1.0 pip on Standard and from 0.0 pips on ECN, with the two Cent accounts following the same structure.

These are floating spreads, so the real level moves with the liquidity of each instrument, the trading session, releases such as CPI, NFP and FOMC, and the transitions between sessions. For a scalper, even 0.5–1 pip of difference is enough to change how a strategy performs.

Two formulas are worth keeping separate:

  • Standard cost = the real spread.
  • ECN cost = the real spread + commission.

Which explains why the account with the tightest spread is not automatically the one with the lowest total cost.

How to Measure the Real Spread Before You Deposit

Rather than trusting the advertised number, test it yourself before committing capital:

  1. Open a Demo or Cent account.
  2. Track the instruments you actually trade: EUR/USD, GBP/USD, USD/JPY, XAU/USD.
  3. Record the spread at three moments: the Asian session, the European–US overlap, and immediately before and after a major release.
  4. On ECN, add the commission to get the full round-turn cost.

Then compare the two accounts on the same instrument, the same volume and the same moment. The spread shown in MT4/MT5 at the point of entry is the cost you actually pay.

ECN Commission: How It Is Calculated, With an Example

How commission is calculated on an ECN Ultima Markets account, with a worked round-turn cost example
How ECN commission is calculated, with a worked example

The total cost of one full trade cycle:

Total cost = (Spread × pip value × lots) + Commission

Watch how commission is charged: if it is billed per side, you have to count both the open and the close; if it is round-turn, the quoted rate already covers both.

Worked Example: 1 Lot of EUR/USD

Assume 1 lot of EUR/USD, where 1 pip is worth about 10 USD:

ItemStandardECN
Example spread1.0 pip0.2 pip
Spread cost10 USD2 USD
Commission0 USD5 USD
Total cost10 USD7 USD
Total cost on 1 lot of EUR/USD: Standard versus ECN

In this example ECN is 3 USD per lot cheaper. The break-even point between the two sits where the 5 USD commission equals roughly 0.5 pip — so once the Standard spread runs more than 0.5 pip wider than ECN, ECN starts winning.

ECN generally has the edge for high trade counts, scalping, EAs and large volume. Standard earns its place through simplicity: no commission to add on top.

The Overnight Fee (Swap): When It Applies and How to Cut It

When the overnight fee applies at Ultima Markets, triple swap day and ways to reduce the cost of holding positions
When the overnight fee applies, and how to reduce it

The overnight fee, or swap, is the charge or credit applied when a position is held past the rollover point. Swap can be negative (debited) or positive (credited), differs between the Buy and Sell side, and changes by instrument.

What Time Is the Overnight Fee Charged?

For forex, Ultima Markets applies a 5:00 AM server time cut-off. Note that this is server time, which does not automatically match your local clock — the server offset can shift with DST, so check before converting.

Forex also applies triple swap on Wednesday to cover the financing cost of the weekend. Some CFDs run their own rollover calendar, so check the specification of the instrument itself.

How to Check Swap in MT4/MT5

Every symbol carries its own swap values, so never apply one figure across the whole account. The method is the same on MT4 and MT5:

  1. Open the Market Watch window.
  2. Right-click the symbol you want to check.
  3. Select Specification.
  4. Read Swap Long (applies to Buy) and Swap Short (Sell).
  5. Check the unit of measurement and the triple swap day.

Re-check before any extended holding period, since swap rates are adjusted with market conditions.

3 Ways to Reduce the Overnight Fee

  1. Close before rollover if your strategy does not require holding overnight — and think especially carefully ahead of the triple swap day.
  2. Check both Swap Long and Swap Short. The two sides are not symmetrical; on some instruments one direction carries a much larger negative swap, and the other can even be positive.
  3. Consider Swap-Free if you qualify, remembering that this arrangement may come with an administrative fee instead of swap.

For swing traders holding for days, accumulated swap can eat meaningfully into profit — particularly on gold, in large size, or when a position passes several triple swap days. For scalpers who close within the session, swap matters far less than spread and commission.

Total Cost and How to Reduce Ultima Markets Fees

The figure that matters is not any single line item but the total cost given how you trade:

StyleFrequencyCost that matters most
Scalping20+ trades/daySpread + commission
Day tradingA few trades/daySpread + commission
Swing tradingA few trades/weekSpread + overnight fee
Long holdsFew tradesSwap and triple swap
Which cost matters most for each trading style

A scalper running 20 trades a day across 20 days generates roughly 400 round turns a month — where a 3 USD difference per lot becomes 1,200 USD. Someone placing only 5 trades a month but holding for days is affected mainly by swap instead.

Ways to reduce your total trading cost at Ultima Markets

Match the Account to Your Trading Frequency

The first way to cut Ultima Markets fees is to pick the right account structure.

Standard suits you better when trade frequency is low, you want a simple cost calculation, you would rather avoid a separate per-lot commission, and a spread from 1.0 pip still fits the strategy.

ECN is worth considering when you trade often, run scalping or EAs, need tight spreads for entries and exits, and the spread you save exceeds the commission you pay.

For newer traders, or anyone testing with small capital, the Cent variants allow a strategy to be checked at smaller position sizes before scaling up.

Control When You Trade

Because the Ultima Markets spread floats, entry timing feeds straight into cost. To avoid paying an unfavourable spread:

  1. Favour periods when liquidity is deep.
  2. Be cautious immediately before and after CPI, NFP or FOMC.
  3. Check the live spread before placing the order.
  4. Never open a position purely because the headline says “from 0.0 pips”.
  5. Watch rollover if you have no need to hold overnight.

Small adjustments, but they matter more the higher your trade count climbs.

Rebates Lower the Cost per Lot

Beyond picking the right account, a trading rebate returns part of the commission generated by your traded volume. For frequent traders, the monthly total meaningfully reduces the real cost per lot.

Backcom.io currently offers forex trading rebates of up to 100% across a range of brokers.

Compare the Cost Against Other Brokers

If you are weighing several firms, line the costs up on identical criteria: the spread on the same instrument, commission per lot, round-turn cost, swap when holding, and whether the account conditions fit your strategy.

Our guide to choosing a reputable forex broker covers the wider checks beyond cost alone.

In short, two levers reduce the total Ultima Markets fees you pay:

  1. Pick the right account type for your frequency and style.
  2. Optimise cost per lot through spread, commission, holding time and a suitable rebate programme.

A broker with a low spread is not automatically the cheapest choice. What counts is the total you actually pay across dozens or hundreds of trades.

Frequently Asked Questions About Ultima Markets Fees

Does the Ultima Markets Broker Charge Deposit or Withdrawal Fees?

According to the broker, the Ultima Markets broker does not charge deposit or withdrawal fees in standard cases. You should still check for charges from your bank, payment gateway or any intermediary, since those fall outside the broker’s own schedule.

What Time Is the Overnight Fee Applied?

Swap applies when a position is held past the 5:00 AM server time cut-off. Check the server’s time zone and the DST period before converting to your own clock. For forex, Wednesday is the triple swap day.

Do Cent Accounts Have a Different Fee Structure?

The Cent variants keep the structure of the original accounts: Standard Cent charges no commission, while ECN Cent pairs tight spreads with commission. The difference is the cent unit and the smaller position size, which suits testing a strategy with real money.

Is the Ultima Markets Spread Fixed?

No. The Ultima Markets spread floats, so the real level changes with liquidity, the time of day and market volatility. “From 0.0 pips” or “from 1.0 pip” are starting points, not a fixed spread on every order.

Which Costs Less, ECN or Standard?

There is no fixed answer. Standard is simpler because no commission applies; ECN has tighter spreads but charges commission. To compare Ultima Markets fees accurately, add the real spread, the commission and any holding cost on the same instrument at the same volume.

Conclusion

Ultima Markets fees are not the advertised spread. They are the sum of spread, commission, the overnight fee and whatever else arises from how you use the account.

  1. Standard suits beginners and infrequent traders through its simpler structure.
  2. ECN is usually cheaper for scalpers, EAs and large volume, provided the spread saved exceeds the commission paid.
  3. Swap is the easiest cost to forget, especially for swing traders holding for days.

Instead of asking which Ultima Markets account has the tighter spread, work out the total cost of one complete round turn — the real spread plus commission. That is the number that decides it.

Note: fees, spreads, commissions and swap policy can change over time. Check the current figures directly on the broker’s website and platform before trading.
