An XM rebate lets traders claim back part of the costs they incur trading forex and CFDs at XM. The money is drawn from the commission XM pays its IB partners, then returned to the trader based on eligible trading volume.
At Backcom.io, the XM rebate can reach $18 per lot and is updated on a daily cycle. What you actually receive still depends on:
- Your XM account type.
- The instrument traded.
- Total eligible lot volume.
- The commission XM records.
This article covers the XM rebate rates, the calculation formula, the conditions for being recorded and when you get paid, so you can check your rebate and optimise your trading costs.
What is an XM rebate and where does the money come from?
An XM rebate is money returned to you based on eligible trading volume at XM. It is not a bonus, and it is not deducted from your profit.
Here is how the mechanism works:
- The trader opens or links an XM account with an IB partner.
- The trader trades as usual on MT4 or MT5.
- XM records the trading volume and pays commission to the IB.
- The partner returns part or all of that commission to the trader.
In other words, the rebate comes from the commission XM pays its partner — not from any extra charge on your trading account.
How the rebate flows between trader, XM and the IB partner

Three parties take part in the rebate mechanism:
- The trader: generates trading volume at XM.
- XM: records the trades and pays commission to the partner.
- The IB partner: receives the commission from XM and returns it to the trader under its published policy.
You still deposit, withdraw and place orders directly with XM. The IB partner only connects the accounts, tracks the data and handles the rebate.
Do winning and losing trades both earn a rebate?
Yes. The XM rebate is calculated from eligible trading volume, not from whether a trade won or lost.
For example:
- Profitable trades still earn a rebate.
- Losing trades can still earn a rebate.
- Break-even trades are still recorded if they meet the conditions.
That said, a rebate only offsets part of your trading costs. It does not guarantee profit and it does not remove market risk.
How much is the XM rebate at Backcom.io?
Backcom.io applies a Backcom XM rate of 90%, meaning you get back 90% of the IB commission Backcom.io actually receives from XM.
Put simply:
- XM pays commission to Backcom.io based on eligible trades.
- Backcom.io keeps 10% to run the system.
- The remaining 90% is returned to the trader.
Because XM’s IB commission varies by account and instrument, the rebate per lot is not fixed either.

Rates by account type and instrument
The rebate per lot is not fixed — it depends on:
- Your XM account type.
- The instrument traded.
- Eligible lot volume.
- The commission XM pays the IB.
So forex, gold and CFD instruments can each carry a different rate.
What affects the amount you actually receive
Your XM rebate comes down to four main factors:
- Account type: each account has its own spread and commission structure.
- Instrument traded: XAU/USD, EUR/USD and CFDs can generate different IB commission.
- Eligible volume: the more lots you trade, the higher your total rebate.
- The data XM records: only qualifying trades generate commission and count towards Backcom.
How the XM rebate is calculated
Your XM rebate is calculated from eligible trading volume and the IB commission XM pays Backcom.io.
The general formula:
XM rebate = IB commission actually received × 90%

Code:
The formula in USD per lot
If the rate has already been converted to USD per lot, you can calculate it as:
Rebate = Eligible lots × Rebate per lot
For example, if XM pays $10 per lot in IB commission:
- Rebate to the trader: $10 × 90% = $9 per lot.
- Trading 5 lots: 5 × $9 = $45.
- Trading 10 lots: 10 × $9 = $90.
The real amount can differ, because every account and instrument carries its own commission rate.
A worked example with XAU/USD and forex

The example above is for illustration only. Check your real rate against the Backcom.io system.
Working out your daily or monthly total
Add up the rebate across every instrument to get your total:
Total rebate = XAU/USD rebate + forex + other instruments
For example, if you average $20 a day:
- Over 7 days: 20 × 7 = $140.
- Over 30 days: 20 × 30 = $600.
The more volume you trade, the higher your total rebate. Only lots XM confirms as eligible are counted, though.
Conditions for an XM trade to earn a rebate
Before you trade, use the Backcom XM Checker tool to verify your link status.

Check Backcom XM
Enter your MT5 Login ID to look up Backcom XM participation and rebate figures.
Data syncs from XM Partners about every hour (Backcom status + rebate figures). For reference only.
Your XM account must be correctly linked to Backcom.io
You need to meet one of the following conditions:
- Open an XM account via the Backcom.io link or partner code.
- Transfer or add Backcom.io as the partner on your existing XM account.
- Link the correct XM MT ID in the Backcom App.
If your account is not in the Backcom.io partner system, any trades you place will not be recorded for a rebate.
When does a trade qualify for a rebate?
A trade normally earns a rebate when it:
- Was opened after Backcom was activated on the account.
- Was placed on the correct linked MT ID.
- Involves an instrument that generates IB commission.
- Is confirmed by XM as a valid trade.
- Has completed recording and data reconciliation.
Your rebate may not appear immediately after you close a trade, since the system needs time to sync.
Cases where no rebate is paid

A trade may not be recorded if:
- The account is not correctly linked to Backcom.io.
- You entered the wrong MT ID or traded on a different account.
- The trade was opened before Backcom was activated.
- The trade has not finished reconciliation.
- The instrument generates no IB commission.
- The trade does not meet XM’s conditions.
Check your link status before trading, so you don’t generate volume that earns nothing back.
When do you receive your XM rebate?
XM rebates are paid on a daily cycle, once XM has recorded the commission and Backcom.io has finished reconciling the data. XM itself also pays partner commission daily through an automated system.
That said, your rebate may not appear the moment you close a trade, because the system needs time to process and sync.
The reconciliation and update cycle
The recording process:
- The trader completes a trade at XM.
- XM verifies the eligible volume.
- The commission is recorded for Backcom.io.
- Backcom.io calculates the trader’s 90% rebate.
- The amount is credited to the Backcom account.
So how quickly you get paid depends on when XM sends the data through and how the day’s reconciliation runs.
Checking your rebate history on Backcom.io
Log in to the Backcom App to check:
- The trading volume recorded.
- The rebate for each period.
- Your total accumulated rebate.
- Payment and withdrawal history.
Compare the Backcom.io figures against your MT4 or MT5 trading history to spot any discrepancy.
Why might your XM rebate arrive late?
Some common reasons:
- The trade just closed and XM has not updated the data.
- The account is not correctly linked to Backcom.io.
- The trader entered the wrong MT ID.
- The trade does not meet the commission conditions.
- Reconciliation runs slower at weekends and on holidays.
- XM needs to verify the trade further.
If the payout cycle has passed and you still have not been paid, check your link status and provide your MT ID, ticket numbers and trading history so it can be reconciled.
Does receiving an XM rebate affect your trading?
Mechanically, receiving an XM rebate changes nothing about how you trade. You still open your own positions, manage your own capital, and deposit and withdraw through XM as usual.
The rebate is simply Backcom.io sharing back 90% of the IB commission actually received once XM has recorded your trade as eligible.

Do spread, commission or execution change?
When you join the XM rebate programme:
- Spreads still follow your XM account type and instrument.
- Backcom.io adds no commission of its own.
- Execution speed and quality remain handled by XM.
- You still trade on MT4 or MT5.
- Backcom.io never holds your capital or interferes with your orders.
So a rebate does not directly raise your trading costs. The money you get back simply offsets part of what you have already paid.
Does a rebate affect the XM bonus?
The rebate and the XM bonus are two separate programmes:
- XM rebate: calculated from IB commission based on your trading volume.
- XM bonus: an incentive XM grants by account, region and time period.
Receiving a rebate does not normally cost you the bonus. Even so, check the terms of the programme you are on — withdrawing funds or changing accounts can affect the bonus you have left.
Summary
An XM rebate returns 90% of the IB commission actually received at Backcom.io.
To have your trades recorded, you need to:
- Link the correct XM account.
- Trade on the correct MT ID.
- Generate eligible volume.
- Wait for the system to finish reconciling.
Your rebate depends on the account, the instrument and your trading volume. It does not change your spread, commission or execution — it simply offsets part of your trading costs.
