If an account shows signs of compromise, speed matters.

In this article, Backcom.io explains nine settings, how to enable them using official guidance, and what to do if you suspect unauthorized access.

Why Binance Account Security Fails: Six Common Attacks

Binance account security begins with recognizing how attackers reach an account. In its 2026 crypto scam report, published on 13 January 2026, Chainalysis said scams received at least $14 billion on-chain in 2025 and estimated the total could exceed $17 billion. Impersonation scams rose 1,400% from 2024. Six routes deserve attention:

Fake login pages and emails: A convincing copy of the exchange can capture a password and any verification code entered there.

Fake security texts: A message warns of an unfamiliar login, then pushes the trader to verify through a shortened link.

SIM swapping: An attacker takes control of a phone number and receives SMS codes meant for its owner.

Malicious apps and extensions: They may steal a login session or replace a wallet address copied to the clipboard.

Address poisoning: A lookalike wallet address shares a few opening and closing characters with a familiar one, inviting a copy error.

Fake support agents: A caller claims there is an account problem and asks for a 2FA code or screen sharing.

Pressure to send money, especially from someone posing as an authority, also appears among the warning signs of a forex broker scam.

9 Binance Account Security Settings In Priority Order

9 Binance Account Security Settings In Priority Order

Binance account security settings should cover the mailbox, the login, and finally the route out of the account. Set it up in five steps:

Update the Binance app to version 2.60 or later, on iOS 16 or Android 9 or later.

In the app, open [Security]. On the web, select [Manage] first.

Verify with an existing method, confirm the email, and select [Continue].

Choose where to store it, such as iCloud Keychain, Google Password Manager, or a USB/NFC key. Then create a backup passkey.

See Binance’s passkey setup guide.

Warning: The “Must verify using passkey for important scenarios” option could leave you unable to log in or withdraw if you lose the passkey. Have at least two passkeys before enabling it, and review the option before changing phones.

Authenticator Apps And A 2FA Verification Strategy

Binance Authenticator and Google Authenticator generate a six-digit code that changes every 30 seconds. A passkey works only with the right domain, while a six-digit authenticator code can be typed into an imitation page. A synced passkey also depends on the security of the Apple or Google account that stores it. Keep an authenticator app as a backup and enable 2FA on the sync account.

How Do You Recover A Binance Account After Losing Your Phone Or 2FA?

Binance provides a 2FA reset process from its official login page if you lose access to a verification method. After a reset, withdrawals and P2P may be suspended for up to 48 hours. A backup passkey and a saved setup key lower the risk of being locked out. Use the official app or a website you enter yourself.

Can A Binance Account Still Be Hacked With 2FA Enabled?

Yes. Binance 2FA blocks someone who has only your password, but a manually entered code can still be captured on a fake page. A stolen SIM or malicious extension can also undermine verification. Add a withdrawal whitelist and check devices periodically if you are concerned about a compromised account. Treat unfamiliar activity as urgent.

How Do You Reopen A Binance Account After Disabling It?

Log in through the official app or website, select [Unlock], and complete the security checks. Withdrawals and P2P may remain unavailable for up to 48 hours after unlocking. If the process fails, use official support chat. Secure your email and clean affected devices before reopening the account, or the same attacker may still have access.

Is It Safe To Keep Funds On Binance?

There is no absolute answer. The exchange manages its systems, while you control the password, 2FA methods, devices, and withdrawal addresses tied to your account. The settings in this guide reduce risks within your control. Consider how much you need for trading. A self-custody wallet has a different risk: losing its recovery phrase.

Conclusion

Binance account security works best in layers. A passkey and authenticator app protect access, the withdrawal whitelist limits destinations, and an anti-phishing code helps identify suspicious messages.

Create a backup passkey, enable app-based 2FA, and review API keys. Before using leverage, new traders should also understand how margin is calculated and browse the trading knowledge section.

Disclaimer: Backcom.io compiled this article from Binance documents reviewed on 14 October 2026 for information only.
